DESCRIPTION:Detroit Permaculture Action Day with Rising Appalachia\nat Spirit Farm\, an 11-year strong urban farm in North Corktown\nfollowed by a benefit concert with: \nMembers of Rising Appalachia\, David Brown Solos & Remixes\, Peace to Mateo feat. Nuntheless (live)\, CoveLove DJ set \nThe action day is absolutely free! Suggested donation for benefit concert $20.  \nBy-donation tickets for the benefit concert available here:  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/benefit-concert-for-spirit-farm-w-members-of-rising-appalachia-more-suggested-donation-20-tickets-51939963830  \nFrom 10am-6pm the Action Day will include hands-on projects\, workshops\, local perspectives\, community resources\, and next steps for addressing Food\, Water\, Housing\, and Land Security. \nWorkshops and panel discussions will explore ways the system is operating that create dependence; building awareness on ways to regain autonomy and provide for oneself; and community resources for folks directly affected by symptoms of gentrification. \nWe will be focusing on building a water catchment system for the farm with practical skills like post setting\, framing\, light roofing\, and guttering. \nWe will also get some practice in small-scale framing to construct a pig house.
