Projects are aimed at ecosystem restoration and creating a more sustainable life in Huerfano. \nIn addition to the hands-on projects listed above we will host a number of workshops at the action day\, accompanied by musical performances and a community meal for our attendees. \nAttending the action day is free\, as always. We’re grateful for your presence and solidarity. \nFeel concerned about getting a spot to camp? \nWe understand those attending the action day on Thursday risk getting into the festival later than others. Exit 56 takes you onto Red Rock Road/610. Follow this until it dead ends. At the dead end\, turn right onto 69. \nTake the 69 more than 10 miles until you see the turn for CR 620 marked by a green road sign and make a right onto the 620. (There’s a patch of ground as you come off the 69 that is a great place to park and carpool into the action day site if you want to squad up.) \nWhen you see a cemetery\, stay left. Keep straight (do not turn when you see the CR 623 sign at the triangle. You’re continuing forward there and to the right of the triangle.)\nLess than a quarter mile past the cemetery you will see a gate; turn left through the Lazy S Ranch signed gate. \nGo past the Lazy S Ranch\, passing with it on your right until you see a church on your left. Shortly after the church you will see a red truck. Make that next right – you will see action day signs with arrows from there.

SUMMARY:A day of action at a local indigenous community site building a community kitchen and restoring stream and forest ecosystems.
DESCRIPTION:Music * Food * Hands-on Projects * Workshops * Taking Action\n\nLogistics:\nAddress: 7102 CR 620 Gardner\, CO 81040. \nJoin Sonic Bloom and the Permaculture Action Network at the Aztlan Cultural Center both Wednesday and Thursday this year before the festival kicks off on Thursday evening for action days.\n\nJune 14th and 15th we’re inviting all attendees of Sonic Bloom\, alongside the general public\, to come to Aztlan Cultural Center in Gardner\, Colorado starting at 11am Wednesday\, June 14th. We know it’s been a challenge in past years to have the action day on Thursday while festival gates are opening\, so this year we’re welcoming people to come Wednesday and to stay overnight.\n\nAction Day participants will be welcome to stay overnight in your own camping setup at Aztlan Cultural Center and join for evening sweat lodge ceremony after Wednesday’s day of action\, and either continue working with us on the land at Aztlan Thursday\, or head to the Sonic Bloom site as early as 10am for early entry alongside VAP package holders.\n\nMany of us will continue to work with the land and the community on Thursday morning and early afternoon\, and any of those who arrived Wednesday and slept over after sweat lodge are welcome to continue with working and building with us\, as well as anyone who is able to only arrive Thursday morning and stay for the day.\n\nBy 4pm Thursday\, June 15th\, we will all have moved over to Sonic Bloom for the festival and to hold space in the workshop hub.\n\nAction Day:\nAztlan Cultural Center is located 40 minutes drive from Hummingbird Ranch and is one of Sonic Bloom’s closest community project neighbors. The center hosts weekly ceremonies and an annual Sun Dance on indigenous held land while welcoming all people to its free ceremonies.\n\nAs we dance and connect in our own special way\, we invite you to stand in solidarity with our indigenous neighbors who are holding their own connection to the land\, spirit\, and each other.\n\nLast year\, we rebuilt the ceremonial arbor used for Sun Dance\, trimmed trees and cut firewood for ceremony – aiding the forest ecosystem adjacent the stream\, and worked on the gardens. We brewed and sprayed compost tea\, and took all festival food scraps to build compost piles.\n\nThis year\, we will be rebuilding parts of the community kitchen that supports the ceremonies\, continuing our tree work and work with the stream-adjacent forest ecosystem\, and looking at installing a new water catchment tank and pumping system\, alongside other ecological projects.\n\nMusic:\nWe’re always joined by a sound system\, DJ’s and performing artists to accompany the day’s projects. Working alongside friends to build\, plant\, and grow while DJs play to the atmosphere. It’s a beautiful experience and we’re excited for you to join. We’ve had some headlining artists play in the past and you never know who might show up to accompany a day of action with song and rhythm. If you want to play\, get in touch with us. We welcome it!\n\nFood:\nWe’ll have community meals to share with folks throughout the event. However\, it will be greatly supportive if you can bring something to share. Potluck style with us baselining some meals will make sure everyone’s fed and nourished. Bringing water and hydrating drinks\, fruit\, and snacks is encouraged and appreciated.\n\nWhat To Bring:\nIn addition to some food and water if you want to contribute to potluck style meals and offerings\, bring tools if you can – basic construction tools; close-toed shoes\, a water bottle to stay hydrated\, and\, if you’re camping overnight\, your tent\, headlamp\, and other camping gear. This is a rural site so come prepared.
